Cleveland Ohio Best Newborn Photographer. Creating timeless and everlasting newborn portraits. It is alway an honor and privilege to capture newborn portraits for families. This is such a special time in someone’s life and meant to be cherished or years to come. They grow so very quickly and those precious first few weeks of the newborn stage is really like no other. Their tiny hands, toes and wrinkly skin are so adorable.

So when is the best time for Newborn Portraits?

I also recommend anytime from day 6-day 15 of the baby’s life. That timeframe gives us enough room to adjust the photos in the calendar if needed. I also pick a date of the newborn shoot prior to the birth of the baby. However if the baby arrives late or early it’s not a problem! We can simply adjust the date. I always highly recommend shooting the portraits before 1 month of age. It’s hard to believe, but baby’s do change a lot the first month! They are also much more aware of their surroundings and harder to capture in those traditional newborn poses.

There is nothing more exciting than finding out you are expecting! From the moment you find out either for the first or third time you are expecting you are instantly rushed with many different emotions. Then after you had a moment to clear your head, all the “to-do’s” start to overwhelm you as well. Deciding on Newborn photos shouldn’t have to be a stressful situation. However, choosing a newborn photographer can be as important as the one you chose for your wedding. This is another big milestone in your life and it should be documented!

I am here to help calm those nerves and make the process as easy as possible. I’ve been doing Newborn Photography for almost 7 years now. So what is the next step if you are interested in photos for your baby?

1) Pick and choose the best photographer for YOU. There are so many different styles of newborn photography to choose from. Its best to choose which one make you feel comfortable and their style fits you!

2) If you decided to go with me, yay! The next process is super easy.

3) I send you my what to expect newborn guide which would answer every question you might have regarding the photo shoot.

4) We pick a photo date based on when you will deliver. If you deliver early or late no worries! We can always reschedule if needed.

5) I offer tips on how to be prepared for the shoot.

6) Arrive to my studio and RELAX! This is now your time to sit back while I handle the newborn shots.

How to prepare for a Newborn Photography Session

While preparing for a newborn session with me I always like to offer some useful tips to make the session go smoother. I always recommend to feed your baby before the session is scheduled to begin. This can be about an hour or so before the shoot. No worries If you have a long drive, you are welcome to feed again at the studio.

If you are okay with baby using one,bring a pacifier, even if

baby doesn’t seem to take to it. I always understand that the baby is still trying to figure out how to use a pacifier. The main reason I recommend bringing one to the shoot is to help settle them if they become fussy. They always need the soothing and sucking reflex to help relax them.

Sucking is a soothing mechanism & can really help with settling baby once I have them in place for photos, even if I have to hold the pacifier.

The studio will be warm. Baby’s like being warm and having the

heat cranked up (no matter the time of year), helps baby stay

settled and sleepy.

You are more than welcome to bring drinks and

a change of clothes to change out of if you think you’ll get hot.

There is no need to bring anything for baby to wear. I provide all the

wraps, headbands, hats, clothes & props. Unless there is something

special you want to bring for your newborn’s photos, don’t worry

about outfits. If there is something special you want to bring, be sure

to let me know so I can work a set around it.

Go simple for family’s wardrobe. When planning your outfits for the

family & sibling shots, stick with soft, neutral colors like grey or

cream as the dominate colors. This keeps the focus on baby and the focus on them.

I’m so excited to offer Valentine Mini Sessions for 2025! We just made it through the cozy Christmas season and now ready for all of the love! My mini sessions will be offered for 1 day only and feature 2 beautiful valentine setups. January 26, 2025 starting at 9am! The session is $275 for 10 digital images and 20 minutes long.

What to wear?

When deciding on what to dress the kids in keep in mind that these backdrop will of course be Valentine’s Day themed.  Pinks, reds, white, and neutrals will all go well with the scene that I have planned.

A beautiful evening at Skok Meadow never seems to disappoint for any of my photography sessions. We were trying to beat the rain when we arrived the session. I also try and reassure the families that cloudy skies make the best photos! I really do mean that. There is something about a cloudy day that has just the right amount of light and make for some super crisp photos. We aren’t having to worry about squinting, bright sun and even harsh shadows. Don’t get me wrong I do love an amazing shot right at that golden glow. But If we can’t have that, cloudy skies are my very close second favorite! It was such an honor to photograph this sweet family for their maternity and newborn portraits. They have never had professional photos taken before! With baby number 3 on the way, this was the perfect time to capture these moment for them!

Mentor Ohio Newborn Photographer

The summer of 2024 was filled with so many familiar faces. It was so much fun to see all these giggly toddlers return to my studio with their new baby sibling in tow! Most of my families this summer were returning families who welcomed baby #2 into their family. There is no greater joy than being able to watch a family grow and literally photograph them along the way!

I will say after playing and chasing the toddlers, the newborns seemed so easy peasy to shoot, lol. I forget sometimes how much bargaining, singing and playing it takes to entertain toddlers. Haha! Its all in good fun though!

This sweet family welcomed Baby Lily to their family. It just seems like yesterday I visited Baby Navy in their home.

Baby June’s Petite Newborn Photography Session

Sweet Baby June rocked her newborn photography session. She was so calm and sleepy during most of the shoot. I understand parents can get stressed if the baby is cranky and cries a lot. But honestly, just trust me. I have been doing this a long time and have many methods and tricks to help sooth a fussy baby. Plus this your time to sit back and relax while I photograph your sweet little baby.

For this newborn shoot, the family decided on the petite newborn session. I offer two different packages. Living near Lake Erie can’t replace the ocean, but still creates some of the most beautiful views and photography options! The stunning dunes near the boardwalk out to the water allows photographers to create so many stunning images.

How fun is little Theo on his first birthday cake smash session! I first met the family at their maternity photos and had the pleasure of photographing their maternity, newborn and now first birthday photos.

When booking a cake smash photo you have 2 options. Simple or complete and customized. If you just need a few simple photos with balloons. Now worries, I got you covered. The quick photo shoot usually take place with my white backdrop and create some fun and classic photos.

If you ready to create and have some fun with a customized theme. I’m ready to help! When booking the complete smash cake session I work with the family in regards to the decor and style of the shoot. I usually like to take family photos prior to the smash cake session. That way you get a little bit of both photos.

I get it and understand moms do so much for the family but often times behind the scenes. Moms are the chefs, chauffeurs, nurse, teacher, playmate and much more to our family. The constant and work and dedication never goes unnoticed however, sometimes MOMS should be in the spotlight.

AND THAT SPOTLIGHT IS NOW!

I had the the best time at my motherhood mini sessions, which I offered the end of April. The motherhood minis took place in my beautiful natural light studio that features a soft white boho theme. These photos were the perfect time to capture that love between mom and her loved ones. Most of my minis are 20 minutes in length and include 15 digital images with the shoot.

Baby Jazmin’s Minnie Mouse themed birthday photography shoot!

I have the best time when families contact me and are interested in doing a specialized themed for their baby’s first birthday photos! Really the sky is the limit the all the different options and themes we can create together. My goal is to work with the family and customize their desired theme.

Baby Jazmin’s family was interested in a fun Minnie Mouse theme! So of course I immediately thought of lots of pink, white and gold color accents. I provided most all of the decor and the cake was made specially by her grandma. How cool is that! Her grandma owns an adorable cake business in Mentor, Ohio.

The best thing I love about my job is getting to know the families and literally watching them grow over the years! It is so hard to believe I first met this adorable family when I did their Fresh 48 Newborn Portraits for their first daughter. This took place right before Covid happened. We had no idea after that what we would be in for.

Since the Fresh 48 photos, I watched their little girl grow through all of the many mini sessions we had together.

I was so excited at their last mini session, when she announced she was expecting! What an honor to photograph their sweet newborn portraits again. Baby Aubrey rocked her newborn shoot and I had the best time shooting their Newborn Portraits.

Rainbow Baby after the Storm | Newborn Photographer | Cleveland Ohio Photographer

As a Cleveland, Ohio photographer it is always such an honor to capture a rainbow baby photography session. Over the last 6 years, I have captured many rainbow babies in my studio. Such a pleasure to see the joy with the family after waiting many months or years for their special one to arrive.

What is a rainbow baby?

A baby born shortly after the loss of a previous baby. The loss could be from miscarriage stillbirth or death infancy. The term rainbow baby is often given, since the rainbow follows the storm.

What takes place during my newborn sessions?

My newborn sessions usually last 2-2.5 hours depending on how the baby does. If the baby is asleep I like to photograph all of the posed and wrapped shots first. If the baby becomes fussy, we usually take a small break to eat and then start with the family photos. While holding the baby and re positioning them, they often times fall back to sleep. I like to end with my lifestyle area and “less wrapped” photos. These photos can be more tricky since it depends how cooperative the baby is. If the baby is unable to settle this is the perfect time to capture those macro shots of tiny ears, feet and hands.

How to book?

It’s best to reach out before the baby comes to ensure you’ll have a spot reserved for newborn portraits. Most people do book well in advance and I don’t like to turn people away if my schedule is full.

The portraits usually take place anytime from day 5 to day 15 of life. I like this sweet spot, since they look like newborns and are more easily able to fall back to sleep.

Studio 210 | Now available to rent | Cleveland Studio Photography Rental

When I started my photography journey many years ago. My dream was to always have my own shooting space, where I could be myself and allow creatively to flow. Now after working in my own home studio for over 6 years, it was time to have my own space. I understand the need and want to work within the walls of your own studio space.

After finally having my own space and loving every piece of it. I am ready to share with my fellow photographers for rental. My space is located on the second floor of a beautiful and historic building located in downtown Painesville. Suite 210.

The studio has almost 500 square feet with a private changing and client closet across the hall. The studio offers the use of a 3 tiered seamless hanging backdrop system. With gray, black and white seamless paper. I also offer mat flooring for newborn and cake smash shoots along with a shiny white board. Which makes clean ups after smash cakes that much easier!

The best part of the my studio is the additional shooting area called my Lifestyle area. This area features a bed, egg chair, and screen all decorated with a boho theme in mind. There is tons of beautiful light that flows in the studio all hours of the day. With the rental you are welcome to use my Einstein light as well. If you are a newborn photographer, you would have full access to all of my wraps, headbands, props and accessories.

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions | Chagrin Falls Photographer | Danelle Joy Photography

When booking a newborn session it can be difficult with all the decisions that take place. Not only choosing the right style photographer you would like for the newborn portraits but also the type of photos. Most photographers offer newborn or in home newborn shoots. What is exactly the difference?

The traditional newborn portraits usually take in a studio and the in home newborn session take place in the comforts of your own home. When choosing a newborn portraits with me I do offer both sessions.

What do you get with each session?

With the newborn portraits, they take place in my studio and its combination of backdrop, props and “lifestyle” type photos in the lifestyle area of my studio. So you actually do get a unique combination of both!

For the in home session, when traveling to you. I bring my props, outfits and accessories needed for the shoot. The rest of the photos are taken wherever you would like in your home.

During your session, I'll capture special moments with each family member and the baby as well as the family all together. If siblings are involved, we usually take care of those photos first so that they can go and play during the rest of the session. There will also be time for photos of the baby alone; these are usually done when the baby is sleepiest. 

How can you prepare if I’m visiting your home?

I usually ask for a 4x4 space that is window lit. I usually use the back slider area of most homes. It brings in tons of light and enough room for the newborn portraits with props. The rest of the photos can take place either in your living room, bedroom or nursery.

6 month Milestone | Child Photographer | Willoughby Ohio Photographer

It is so hard to believe how quickly 6 months or even a year flies by! Baby Marcus rocked his six month sitter session! When booking a bump to baby package with me you can easily customize the sessions however you would like. The most popular is the maternity, newborn and first birthday cake smash sessions. However, Marcus’s family wanted to do Newborn, 6 month and 1 year portraits. I am happy to accommodate any type of sessions you would like.

What is a six month sitter session? The six month milestone session, also known as the “sitter” session, is my absolute favorite to photograph. If they are sitting, we document that. I usually like to photograph them on their bellies pushing up, on their back, and rolling around if they are rolling already. At this age they love to play with their toes and their favorite toy is probably their hand.

This session can be baby only or include family too. I always recommend including family for this session if you're able. If you would like to book your sitter session, please reach out since my calendar does fill quickly.

Baby Sister Newborn Session | Chardon, Ohio | Cleveland Ohio photographer

I was so thrilled to hear that this special family was expecting baby number 2! I had the privilege to photograph their first baby girl and many mini sessions along the way with them. There is nothing more special then watching a family grow up before my eyes. It’s hard to believe I’ve been doing this long enough to photograph not only their 1st baby. But I’ve literally watched many of the families grow from baby 1, 2 and even number 3! That means the world to me, when so many families keep coming back. That is truly the biggest compliment anyone can ever give regarding my photography.

Sweet Gwennie was welcomed with big arms in the studio. I had so much photographing her and her adorable family. Big sister rocked the session too, and allowed me to capture so many sweet moments together.
