Its so hard to believe we are well into 2024 already! With the New Year, I always get excited about offering new items and ideas to my business.

Behind the scenes I’ve been gearing up and taking many new newborn classes. The world of photography with newborns are always changing and I find it extremely important to stay current and up to date. That is the best way to offer all of my clients the most up to date beautiful and professional images. I also am offering many new props, wraps and accessories to my newborn closet! This will also help enhance the look and represent Newborn Photography for 2024. I can see parents today want to stay current and love their photos to represent the times while staying classic as well.

I recommend booking while you are expecting. Please don’t wait until the baby is born to start researching newborn photographers. At that time, most are already booked. Mentor Newborn Photography | Introducing Sutton

I am asked many times when is the best time for Newborn Portraits? There really is a magic timeframe for those adorable photos. Why? Because the baby really does need to be somewhat sleepy and still have that squishy newborn look. Its hard to believe, once they are close to 1 month old the “newborn” look is starting to fade. They are also much more awake and moving around.

I recommend photos to be done anytime from day 5 to day 15 of life. That gives a nice 2 week window for the photos to happen. It also give mom some time to recover from the hospital stay.

If you are expecting, please don’t hesitate to reach out and book your newborn portraits. I recommend booking them at least 3 months in advance, in order to secure your spot.

Cleveland Twin Newborn Photography | Introducing Emery & Colton

What is better than meeting and photographing one beautiful snuggly newborn?! Meeting twins! I always love when I have the opportunity to photography twin babies. Yes, it can be a lot of work but its also so special! I understand twins usually spend a couple days or even weeks in the NICU and that is adjusted into the shoot day for photos.

I usually wait until the mom and babies are fully ready for their first photoshoot. When I first met Emery & Colton there were already 6-7 weeks old but because they were twins they were still the perfect size.

The twin newborn shoot can either take place in your home or my studio. For Emery and Colton I visited their home and I documented them the best I could throughout their home.

If you are expecting and considering newborn photos. I recommend booking at least 3 months in advance. My calendar fills up quickly and its best to have a solid plan in place before the babies arrive.

When to take Maternity Photos | Maternity Photoshoot | Cleveland, Ohio | Newborn Photographer

I am asked many times when is the best time for Maternity photos? A maternity photo session is the perfect way to document the beautiful change your body is undergoing. I recommend photos to be taken anytime from week 32 to week 36 depending on how your feeling. You want a beautiful baby bump for the photos, but also not too large you feel uncomfortable. That’s why I recommend that time frame as the sweet spot for photos.

What takes place during a maternity session?

I offer both a full 1 hour and mini 30 minute maternity session. These photos can be taken outdoors or inside depending on the vibe you want in the photos. Many people choose outdoors all year long. I especially love squires castle for photos.

If you’re deciding on booking both a maternity and newborn shoot you’ll receive 10% off the total cost. If you want all 3 sessions, maternity, newborn and first birthday. I offer a bump to baby package which includes all 3 sessions at a reduced cost.

1st Birthday Portraits - Smash Cake - Cleveland Ohio Photographer

When you look back can you believe how fast that year went?! It is crazy to believe you now have a baby that’s entering toddlerhood and starting walk, climb and talk!

So let’s capture all of this joy and excitement. Smash cake first birthday photos are such a fun experience for the child and parents.

What’s included with a smash cake session? When booking the full session, you’ll have consult either over the phone or email. I will ask what theme or colors you would prefer for the shoot. I also can give suggestions of set ups I currently have for both boys and girls.

The session begins with portraits with the setup, the cake smash and can end with adorable bath tub photos. I currently offer smash and splash photos as an add on for the the fun experience.

First birthday is such a special time for you and your little one. I bet you look back and think, how did that year go so fast?!

With many of my Bump to Baby clients the milestone is an extra bonus session they get with the package. I also offer packages for the milestone to book on your own as well.

The milestone packages are either full or mini packages. The full session is a 1 hour session and can be customized for a certain theme in mind. You also receive all the digital images with the full session.

The mini milestone session is a quick 30 minute session with 1 simple set up for the session. You’ll receive 15 digital images with the package.

Natural Newborn Photography | Northeast Ohio | Best Newborn Photographer

When looking for a newborn photographer, it can be overwhelming. There are so many talented and different types of photographers out there. Some only like lifestyle, studio natural light or even studio light. All of this can create very different types of photos.

How would I describe my Newborn Photography?

My photos are more centered on the airy natural light with some studio light. I love my photos to have a light, white and crisp edge to them. My favorite style are the natural unposed posed photos seen below. There is nothing bette than a sweet newborn on white linens and captured just how they are. No crazy awkward poses, just them sleeping the day away.

Many parents still request posed prop photos and I do love them as well. The benefits of my photography style compared to others is I offer both! I like to offer both posed prop plus more natural lifestyle themed photos. All taken in the comforts of my home studio.

All you need to do is show up! I’ll take care of the rest!

Lifestyle Newborn Session | On-Location Shoot | Cleveland, Ohio | Newborn Photographer

You may have heard the term “lifestyle newborn shoot” but never really understood what it was. So what if a lifestyle shoot?? In basic terms, it really means unposed more candid type photos that usually take place in your own home. A Lifestyle newborn session involves creating more artistic and candid type photos instead of staged poses. Examples are being cradled in a parent's arms, or sleeping in a bassinet or cot. Lifestyle newborn photos appear natural and “unstaged”. I usually like to have the session flow naturally and organically while shooting in your home, nursery and master bedroom. Even though I do love these photos so much the benefits of choosing my style of photography is I offer both lifestyle and prop photos of the newborn. I have found over the years parents still want a combination of both photos. And that is exactly what I offer!

I bring some props, swaddles and my beanbag for a few of the traditional newborn poses then I move onto the lifestyle session. I truly believe its a nice blend of both worlds.

If you are interested in booking a newborn shoot, I highly recommend booking while you’re still pregnant. The photos should take place anytime from day 5 to day 15 of life and my calendar fills up in advance.

Many times I encourage moms to be in the photos as much as they can. Because we all know moms are left out of the photos many times! However, I understand if sometimes you just don’t feel like having your photo taken. That’s why I now offer the Petite Newborn Session. Its a quick and easy session for just the baby so you don’t have to worry about things not fitting or looking right for the photos. Just come and relax at the session, while I take the baby and do my magic.

With the Petite Newborn Session, it includes a 1 hour session and your choice of 15 images. I send a fully edited gallery of 25-30 images and you can choose your best 15! You also have the choice of purchasing more digitals or the entire gallery.

Many new parents realize that they will want pictures of their pregnancy newborn and once their baby turns 1! That’s why I’m so excited to offer my bump to baby package. I have realized that many parents wanted each session and wouldn’t it be nice to have it all planned out for their first year. The maternity session I recommend taking place around week 32-week 36. I want your cute little bump showing but I also don't want to wait to long and your now uncomfortable and not wanting photos take.

For the newborn shoot, I recommend they are taken from day 5 to day 15 of life. Anytime after that I can not always guarantee the baby will sleep and have that little newborn look. Around the 1 month mark the newborns do change so much!

The milestone session can be your choice to be taken anytime within the first year of life. Most people like to do it for their 1st birthday. And don’t blink, because before you know you it you’ll be planning that first birthday ;)

Lifestyle Newborn Session | Newborn Photography | Award Winning Photographer

This time of year can be so cold and bitter. Who wants to venture out of their home especially with a newborn?! No one, right! How nice would it sound if I said you could stay home while I bring everything to you! Amazing right. Why bundle up and venture out. This is exactly why I like to offer Lifestyle Newborn Shoots in the comforts of your own home. What is a Lifestyle Newborn Shoot? I get asked this many times and many people have told me they don’t just want candid photos. That is why I bring all my newborn items with me and you get both candid shots plus all the prop newborn shoots. All in the comforts of your own home. The only requirement I need is a nice window lit 4 ft x 4ft area. Usually a patio slider door works perfectly, and has beautiful light coming through even on the darkest day.

Depending on how the baby is acting I like to start with the wrapped prop and bean bag poses. They look very similar to what you see here in my gallery. After I’m done with the newborn shoots we move on to the lifestyle (candid) shots throughout the home. Places that work the best are living room, nursery and master bedroom.

Newborns are best photographed just as they are, naturally beautiful. I have always been drawn to the more natural unposed setups for newborns. I believe they should be captured in their natural state with the flaky skin, belly button and all the wrinkles.

Fall minis were so golden | Cleveland Family Photographer | Fall Photography

Northeast Ohio definitely gave us some beautiful fall weather this year! The trees seemed so bright, beautiful and golden at all of my shoots. I was so glad there was no need to reschedule and deal with rain this fall. Most of my mini sessions this year took place at Chagrin River Park and Squires Castle. I really appreciate everyone for trusting me with their family photos again for 2022!

I am so excited to share my new Newborn Studio look that I now offer for families wanting Newborn Sessions. Many families are already overwhelmed once coming home from the hospital. The last thing they may want to do is prepare their home for professional photos. That is why I have now created a little photo space that looks cozy and is more lifestyle like. I still offer the traditional backdrop posing for families who want it!

I always give each family the choice of lifestyle or traditional newborn portraits or even a mixture of both! That can be done in my studio. My new set up features a neutral boho style bed and chair that works for both baby and families!
