There are few places in Northeast Ohio that feel quite as enchanting as Squire’s Castle, and it proved to be the perfect setting for this beautiful maternity session captured by Danelle Joy Photography. Nestled within the lush, woodsy trails of the Cleveland Metroparks, the castle offered the perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty—an ideal backdrop for celebrating the excitement and anticipation of welcoming a new little one.

From the moment we arrived, the light was absolutely dreamy. Soft sunshine filtered through the tall trees that surround the castle lawn, creating a warm glow that highlighted every moment of connection and tenderness. Maternity sessions already carry such a sense of wonder, but here, with the stone walls and historic archways of the castle framing each scene, that magic felt even stronger.

The mom-to-be looked radiant in her flowing dress, the soft fabric catching the breeze as we explored the grounds. We began the session near the front of the castle, where the iconic arches make a beautiful natural frame. The stone textures added a timeless feel to the portraits, while the open field nearby allowed for more relaxed, candid moments. As she cradled her belly, you could feel her joy and quiet anticipation—those small, in-between expressions that make maternity photography so meaningful.

One of my favorite aspects of photographing at Squire’s Castle is the variety it offers in such a small area. We stepped inside for a few intimate, moody portraits where filtered window light created pockets of soft shadow and delicate highlights. Then we moved out onto the back lawn for wide, airy photographs surrounded by greenery. Each corner of this location brings its own character, giving families a beautifully diverse gallery to treasure.

What made this session even more special was the genuine connection shared between this growing family. Whether it was shared laughter, a quiet moment of stillness, or the excited conversations about their baby on the way, everything felt heartfelt and real. Those are the moments I always aim to preserve—images that tell the story not just of what life looks like, but what it feels like.

As the sun dipped lower into the sky, the golden glow wrapped around the castle and created the perfect light to end the session. The results were warm, glowing portraits that beautifully highlight this season of anticipation and new beginnings.
