There’s something so magical about watching an older sibling meet their new baby brother or sister for the first time. It’s one of those fleeting, heartwarming moments that parents never want to forget. That’s why I love including siblings in my newborn portrait sessions—it’s a beautiful way to capture the story of your growing family and the pure love that shines through in those early days.

When families come to my Cleveland studio with both a newborn and older siblings, I make sure the experience is relaxed and fun for everyone. I always start by giving big brothers and sisters some one-on-one attention. We might chat about their favorite things, take a few solo portraits, or let them “help” with the baby’s photos. There’s something so special about welcoming a brand-new baby into the studio — the tiny toes, soft snuggles, and those first sweet moments that seem to pass all too quickly. This newborn session at my photography studio was a perfect reminder of just how precious those early days are.

From the moment this little one arrived, the room was filled with calm, cozy warmth. I always make sure the studio is perfectly comfortable for babies — soft lighting, gentle music, and plenty of snuggly wraps and textures to keep them content. The parents relaxed on the couch while I carefully posed their new bundle, capturing every delicate detail — tiny fingers, peaceful yawns, and those dreamy, sleepy smiles.

We started with simple, timeless poses on neutral backdrops to highlight baby’s natural beauty. Then we added in a few soft blankets and wraps in muted tones for variety. My goal with every newborn session is to create images that feel pure, heartfelt, and classic — the kind of portraits that will look just as beautiful years from now as they do today.

One of my favorite moments from this session was when Mom and Dad joined in for family portraits. You could feel the love and pride radiating from them as they held their baby close. Those first family photos are always so meaningful — a reminder of how life has changed in the most beautiful way.
